After all the JEE preparation and strategy what ultimately decides the outcome is your performance on the test day. Everything you have been doing boils down to the final day. So it is very crucial to develop the right mindset for the D-DAY.
1 . “I think that I prepared well…..”.
People often feel comfortable solving JEE questions in their own homes but lose the confidence on entering the exam hall. A major factor here is that people often feel they are well prepared, but that is not the case in reality. So make sure to solve the questions with full sincerity and honesty. Emulate the JEE examination environment at your home. Understand the examples properly before jumping on the questions. Take home tests with the help of timer and DO NOT check for any formula during the allocated time. Once the time ends, you can analyse your mistakes. This will make sure that you remember the necessary formula, equations and not fumble when it matters.
2. “I feel nervous on entering the examination hall….”
Anxiety in exam often messes up with all your preparation and hard work. Avoid procrastination and do not keep your preparation pending till the day before the examination. You should try to remain calm before the D-Day. It can be a rewarding mechanism. Mugging up the formula till the last minute does not help and does not build the right conditioning to attempt the exam.
3. “I cannot secure a good rank how much I prepare……”Insecurity before an examination would not allow for a solid preparation in the first place. Having preconceived notions, myths of an examination serves no purpose. Remember that there are no shortcuts. Just staying in the JEE preparation for 2 complete years and doing the basic things such as attending classes, taking tests will ultimately land you in a good college for sure, if not your preferred college for any reason. Attempt the mock tests with your best preparation but do not fret over the ranks too much. It is a long term game and many people leave the preparation midway, that does not help.
4. Art of test taking
Do not spend too much time on a single question. A good strategy is to scan the entire question paper or at least one section in the first five minutes. So you can have an idea of the solvable questions. There is no use to regret later about the missed questions after the examination is over.
Following these points would build your exam mindset and enable you to deliver the peak performance when it finally matters.
